New Instagram update means friends will no longer be able to see your likes.
Instagram users across the globe will no longer be able to see how many likes a post has received under trial changes to “remove pressure” on the digital platform’s users.
Instagram has started rolling out the trial update removing the total number of likes on photos and viewings of videos on user feeds and profiles.
Users will still be able to see a list of likes on their own posts, just not the overall number
Instagram released a statement on their Twitter today:
Instagram hopes this test will remove the pressure of how many likes a post will receive, so you can focus on sharing the things you love. Although a decision will be made at a later date on whether or not the update will be made permanent.
This asks some big questions for the future of Instagram. Will the loyal users and influencers back the bold moves aimed at combating online bullying? Or is Instagram doomed for a similar fate of the once loved App ‘Vine’.
Either way these updates will certainly change the future of the platform forever and Mark Zuckerburg will still be winning!
